Business process automation · Bonn, Germany · remote worldwide
Automate the manual work your team does every week – practically, and in a way that fits how you already operate.
Recurring Excel work, data gathering, reports and other manual routines quietly eat hours every week. I analyze the process and build the solution that actually fits it – from Excel/VBA and Python to web applications and AI.

Approach
Automation doesn't start with a tool.
Most automation projects open with a technology question: Do we need AI? Power BI? Python? New software?
I start one step earlier: What work is still done by hand, why is it done that way, and which parts are actually worth automating?
Sometimes a well-built Excel tool is all it takes. Sometimes data has to be pulled together from several sources automatically, or a process has outgrown spreadsheets and needs a dedicated web application.
AI comes in where it has a concrete edge, like reading and processing documents. Not where a few clear rules get the job done more reliably.

What I automate for businesses
Automate Excel work
More on Excel automationWhen reports, calculations or reconciliations are done in Excel the same way over and over, most of those steps can be automated right inside the workbook your team already uses.
Typical jobs: importing and validating data, merging files, automating calculations, generating reports, and cleaning up existing VBA solutions.
Collect and prepare data automatically
More on data automation and web scrapingInformation tends to live everywhere: websites, portals, PDFs, APIs, internal files. Instead of someone gathering it by hand every week, the data can be pulled, checked and delivered in a clean, structured format automatically.
Automate reporting
More on reporting and dashboardsIf most of your reporting is pulling numbers from different files and rebuilding the same views every period, that workflow can almost always be simplified dramatically.
Replace Excel with a web application
More on custom web applicationsExcel is a great tool for a lot of processes. But at some point a file hits its ceiling: several people need it at once, versions drift apart, or you need permissions and a clear change history.
Put AI to work on the right tasks
More on AI-assisted automationNot every recurring task follows clear rules. Texts need summarizing, documents need sorting, details need to be pulled out of free text.
Language models can earn their keep here – embedded in a controlled workflow, with human review wherever it matters.

Which solution fits?
Excel, Python, web application or AI?
The approaches that come up in project after project, and when each one makes sense:
- Excel/VBA
- When a workflow is clearly bounded, lives comfortably in tables, and is handled by one person or a small team. Everyone stays in the environment they already know.
- Python
- When data needs to be fetched, checked, transformed and passed along in the background, without anyone opening a file.
- Data pipeline
- When the same information is collected regularly from websites, APIs, PDFs or files, and the collecting itself is the bottleneck.
- Web application
- When several people work at the same time, you need permissions or a change history, or an Excel file has become business-critical.
- AI
- When texts, documents or free text have to be understood before they can be processed, and fixed rules no longer cut it.
Which approach makes sense depends on the workflow. That's usually settled faster in a short conversation than with a long list of technical requirements.
You don't need to know which tool fits your process. We'll figure that out together, based on how the work actually gets done.
Talk it throughFrom real projects
Processes that nobody does by hand anymore.
A few projects in brief. The full write-ups are under case studies.
German Copters · Logistics provider for hospitals and laboratories
Road distances for quotes
A logistics provider looked up driving distances for every single quote by hand. A tool built on tariff and routing data now calculates them automatically.
Security services
Quote calculation as a web application
A security services company had outgrown Excel for quoting. A lean web application replaced the file, and the client now runs it on their own.
Finance
Automated reports for a financial services firm
Figures were evaluated by hand against the client's criteria and copied into reports. A tool now produces the recurring reports consistently and with far less manual work.
In the client's words
“We used to look up the road distance for every single quote by hand. Today it's available at the push of a button, on one consistent basis. Tim looked closely at how we actually work and built a solution that fits right into our existing calculation.”
Working together
What you can expect from working with me.
- 01
I know the client's side of the table.
For more than ten years I've held leadership roles in commercial management at Deutsche Telekom, today part-time alongside the consulting work. I know how business teams operate, how decisions actually get made, and why so many internal tools never make it into daily use.
- 02
I build it myself.
Analysis, concept, implementation and handover all come from one person. There's no handoff to a development team that has never seen your process.
- 03
You stay independent.
Source code, documentation and a walkthrough are part of every delivery. Your team or any other provider can run and extend the solution without me.
How it works
How a project runs.
- 01
You describe the process
Through the form or in a quick call. You don't need a solution in mind, just the workflow that keeps costing you time.
- 02
You get an honest assessment
I tell you whether and how the workflow can be automated, which tool fits, and roughly what to expect. If it makes sense, a concrete quote follows.
- 03
We build in short steps
The solution is built with your real data and tested early. You end up with a tool your team can run without me, including source code, documentation and a walkthrough.
Frequently asked
What people want to know before the first conversation.
- Who is this for?
- Small and mid-sized businesses, and teams inside larger companies, that have a specific recurring manual process – calculations, reports, data reconciliation, research – and want it automated reliably. No technical background required. Past projects span logistics, security services, finance and pension administration.
- Which technology do you use?
- Whatever fits the process. Excel and VBA for table-based workflows, Python for data processing in the background, reports or dashboards for recurring analysis, a web application for multi-user processes, language models for texts and documents. The decision comes after analyzing the workflow, never before.
- What does a project cost?
- It depends on the scope of the process, which is why you won't find a price on this site. Some projects take a few focused hours; others run across several phases. After a short description of your process you get a concrete quote with a clearly defined scope.
- Do you work remotely or on site?
- Mostly remotely, from Bonn, Germany, with clients wherever they are. For workshops, handovers or training in the Rhineland and Ruhr region I'm happy to come by in person.
- Do I get the source code?
- Yes, always. Source code, documentation and a walkthrough are part of every delivery. You can run the solution yourself or hand it to another provider at any time.
- How do you handle confidential data?
- Wherever possible I develop with anonymized or synthetic data. Access to live systems happens only by agreement, with an NDA on request. Case studies are published only with the client's written permission.
